You know how it is when you feel like having a brain is both a blessing and a curse - when the way you think and respond to a given situation differs from the way your peers normally respond. You know how it feels as if your brain and intense emotions are designed to isolate you socially, cursing you to spend many sleepless nights asking yourself why no one understands you, and why you simply cannot be like everyone else. You know how it feels to be the only smart one in a world full of idiots, ranging from attention seeking Facebook statuses and oblivious customers at the grocery store who are too stupid to put the divider on the conveyer belt to friends that only care about drinking and getting high to politics. There are days when everyone and everything just gets on your nerves.
And you have never felt more alone in your life. Always alone. Fed up. Even writing about it or seeing picture quotes about it on tumblr drives you crazy, because there is this nagging epiphany inside of you asking, “If everyone feels like this, why are we still isolated from the masses?”
You know what I mean? No. Actually, you do not. Because very few of us get how this feels. Very few of you out there get how it feels to be the outcast; to be the one who feels humiliated about things that are not even happening to you, to feel sorry for people who do not deserve your empathy, to want to love and to please, to know in your own mind your talents and capabilities and have them only ignored and unappreciated by seemingly everyone. No. You do not get it, because if everyone got how it felt, then why are we still feeling this way? There’s us, and then there’s you. Seriously, I could write a novel series on it and call it “The Feelers” or something - and it’d be about an evolutionary split of the human race, those that are selfish and robotic and full of greed, and those that are selfless and empaths and full of rare compassion.
Shoot. I cannot even continue to write right now. The frustration of the entire thing is just utterly overwhelming.
That is all.
